Sealed a container but the labeling prompt didn’t start? No worries — this is usually a simple connection issue. This guide will help you quickly identify the problem and fix it.
Pinpointing the Problem
To find the right solution, check what your Silo is doing right after sealing a container:
- Do you see an error message on the Silo screen? → Follow the matching solution below.
- Stuck on “Prepping to label...” → Skip to that section.
- Alexa responds incorrectly or not at all → Check the Alexa troubleshooting section.
Troubleshooting Network and Cloud Errors
"Internet not available. Unable to label"
Your Silo is connected to Wi-Fi but cannot reach the internet.
Fix
- Check internet on another device connected to the same Wi-Fi.
- If internet is down → restart your router.
- If internet works → unplug Silo, wait 10 seconds, and plug back in.
"Silo cloud is inaccessible. Unable to label"
Your Silo has internet but cannot reach Silo servers.
Fix
- Restart your router.
- Restart your Silo (unplug for 10 seconds).
- Check firewall / network filtering settings.
- If issue persists — it may be a temporary outage.
"There is a network issue. Unable to label"
Your Silo lost connection to your Wi-Fi network.
Fix
- Make sure your router is powered on.
- Check if other devices can connect.
- Reconnect your Silo to Wi-Fi.
Stuck on 'Prepping to label...'
If this screen lasts more than 5–10 seconds, Alexa is likely muted.
The microphone-off button on your Silo may be enabled (red LED on), preventing Alexa from continuing the labeling process.
Quick Fix
- Press the microphone-off button to unmute Alexa.
- Ensure the red LED turns off.
- Remove and reseal the container to restart labeling.
Alexa Responds Incorrectly
If Alexa responds with unrelated answers, the Silo Alexa skill may be disconnected.
Fix
- Open the Silo app.
- Go to More → Settings.
- Tap Alexa Account Settings.
- Tap 'Re-enable Silo Alexa Skill'.
- Log in to Amazon and reconnect.
Check Basic Mode
If labeling isn’t working but there are no errors, your device may be in Basic Mode.
Basic Mode allows vacuum sealing without Wi-Fi, but disables smart features like voice labeling.
Check your device settings and make sure Basic Mode is disabled.
