If you're setting up your Silo for the first time or after a factory reset, you're in the right place. Follow the steps below to connect your device and get things rolling.
Setting up your device with an existing Silo account? Follow these steps as if you were starting from scratch.
Connecting Your Silo Device
To power on your Silo, follow these steps:
- Plug the power cord into the slot on the back of your Silo.
- You can orient the cord either left or right depending on your kitchen setup.
- Use the groove to keep the cable tidy.
- Press the cord firmly into the groove.
- Connect Silo to a wall outlet. Once plugged in the device will light up.
Download the Silo App
Install the Silo app on your smartphone to manage your containers and track freshness.
- Download from the Apple App Store (iPhone)
- Download from Google Play (Android)
- You can also scan the QR code provided with your device
Make sure your phone Wi-Fi is enabled because you'll need your network name and password during setup.
Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.
If your Silo was already set up previously, tap 'Sign In' when opening the app.
Setting up the Silo Device
1. Connect Your Smartphone to Silo
The Silo app connects automatically to your device using Bluetooth.
- Grant Bluetooth or Nearby Devices permissions
- Wait while the app searches for your Silo
- Your device will connect automatically once detected
Manual Connection
- Tap 'Manual Connection' in the Silo app
- Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone
- Connect to a network named Silo_XXXX
- Return to the Silo app to continue setup
If connection fails, ensure Bluetooth is enabled and permissions are granted. Reinstalling the app may prompt permissions again.
2. Connect Silo to Your Home Wi-Fi
- Select your home Wi-Fi network in the app
- Enter your Wi-Fi password
- Wait while the app verifies the connection
- You will receive confirmation once connected
3. Sync with Amazon and Alexa
Silo integrates with Alexa through a three-step connection process.
Create or Connect Your Silo Account
- Select 'Sign up with Amazon' in the app
- Log in using your Amazon credentials
- Confirm your account connection
Pair Silo with Alexa
- Sign in again to Amazon to pair with Alexa
- A pairing code will appear on the Silo display
- Paste or enter the code when prompted
Enable the Silo Alexa Skill
- Enable the Silo skill when prompted in the app
- Sign in to Amazon and grant permissions
- Voice control will now be available through Alexa
After completing these steps your Silo will be connected to Wi-Fi, your Amazon account, and Alexa.
