How to Vacuum Your Silo Containers
Follow these steps to vacuum-seal your Silo containers properly.
Place the Container
Place the Silo container in the center of the glass top on your Silo base.
Press to Start the Vacuum
Press gently on the top of the container to start the vacuum process.
The process will begin automatically and you can remove your hands.
Complete the Process
The vacuum process typically takes between 5–20 seconds.
Once finished Alexa will announce 'Vacuum complete'.
- Silo will check the container contents
- If the container is already labeled the label will be shown
- If new contents are detected Alexa will ask you to label the container
What if the Vacuum Fails?
- Check that the lid is closed securely
- Press on the Silo logo to ensure the rocker is closed
- Make sure there is no debris or obstruction around the seals
Reading the Vacuum Indicator
Monitor the container’s vacuum indicator to ensure the container remains properly sealed.
- If the indicator falls re-vacuum the container
- Maintaining a deep vacuum can preserve food freshness for up to 14 days
- If the vacuum fades quickly inspect the lid and seals
Indicator Not Fully Blue?
If the vacuum indicator does not turn completely blue even though the container is sealed, try the following.
- Use a blunt pin or paperclip to gently press the small hole near the rocker
- This releases the internal valve if it becomes stuck
Never use sharp objects or apply excessive force.
Opening Your Silo Containers
To open your container follow these steps.
- Press the rocker on top of the lid
- Press the circle indicator opposite the Silo logo
- Lift the lid after the vacuum seal releases
Remember to re-vacuum the container afterward to maintain freshness.
