Cleaning The Silo Containers
Your Silo containers are designed for everyday convenience and can be cleaned just like regular food storage containers. Here’s how to keep them in top shape:
Dishwashing Instructions
All parts of the Silo container are dishwasher safe. To ensure proper cleaning, you can follow these quick tips when loading the containers in the dishwasher:
- Place the container upside down with a slight tilt so that the air tunnel is positioned at the bottom, allowing the water to drain and the container to dry thoroughly.
- Before cleaning the lid, make sure to open the lid rocker and the splatter cap to allow water and air to circulate inside the channels for better cleaning results.
- For stubborn food residues within the air channel, use a thin brush to clean out any remaining particles.
Deep Cleaning & Removing Seals
For a deeper clean, you can remove certain parts of the container to ensure thorough cleaning of even the smallest crevices:
- Remove the upper and lower seals by gently pulling them out for proper cleaning. All seals are dishwasher-safe, but you can also hand wash them.
- To remove the lid parts like the lid rocker and splatter cap, press and lift them out with a slight tug.
After cleaning, ensure all components are fully dry before reassembling.
Handling the Silicone Seals
While the seals are durable, it’s essential to handle them with care during removal, cleaning, and reassembly:
- Avoid using sharp objects to remove the seals, as any damage could compromise the airtight function.
- Clean the seals with a soft sponge and avoid using abrasive materials that can wear down the silicone.
- Dry the seals thoroughly before putting them back in place.
- Reinserting the Seals:
- To reinsert the upper seal, align the back notch (1) and press it into the groove around the lid, ensuring the seal is properly seated around the entire circumference (2) and aligned with the air port(3).
- For the lower seal, simply press it back into the groove around the container’s base, making sure it is evenly positioned(4).
Food Staining
Silo containers are made from Tritan™, a stain-resistant material. However, in rare cases where food staining might occur, simply running the container through additional dishwasher cycles will generally remove any persistent stains.
Regular maintenance ensures that their vacuum-sealing capabilities remain intact and performant.
